Ramadan is approaching and as someone who lives with the traditional 9–5 workday and fully working from home, it required high productivity. However, without food or drink, it’s easy for focus and energy to slip. With a few changes and strategic adaptations to your routine during Ramadan, you can maximize your day.

To help you stay focused and efficient during this work-from-home phase while Ramadan here is few tips to help you out.

Shaping the good habit

During fasting, you might feel tired and will make you procrastinate your tasks. Stop procrastinating and just do it, you can take full advantage of this blessed month and plan for productive days. Shaping the good habits during Ramadan can be the momentum for you to investing yourself. Take a moment to do the Ramadan challenge, for instance, you can schedule your prayer time on your calendar, recite Qur’an and try to read and understand the meaning. Those challenges force you to be present and eliminate all other distractions while you do it.

Plan your days

One of the biggest benefits that we gain through working from home is that we are no longer have to commute to work and this situation in Ramadan also benefits us to be more productive in the morning. We have the usual schedule from what it has been already, therefore we only need to adjust the routine to maximize your days. When hunger strikes as a distraction, keeping your mind occupied can sometimes be a challenge during Ramadan. By carefully planning your days ahead of time you will better be able to keep your momentum going. Try to create a daily ‘to-do list, prioritize each task based on importance. You can block aside intervals of time throughout the day for completing certain tasks if necessary. I set focus time in the mornings in Microsoft teams and it’s extremely effective. Furthermore, you can try to schedule meetings, calls, and other interpersonal interactions that require high energy in the mornings. Put high-priority tasks and items first, ensuring you make progress on the most pressing items, and leave less pressing or mentally intensive tasks for later on, when your energy and focus may shrink. Knowing that you have a designated amount of time to work on a task can do wonders for eliminating distractions and increasing productivity.

Take a power nap

The afternoon can be the toughest time during Ramadan. I personally believe that taking a power nap is cool and has productivity benefits. During Ramadan, we wake up earlier than usual and the lack of sleep can affect the performance. Moreover, take a power nap for 10 minutes during break to regain some energy can improve alertness and performance.

Make some time for exercise

If you are planning to quit your exercise routine during Ramadan, think again. Some experts said that exercise and fasting can go together. The good side of this it’s completely healthy to work out during fasting and it did not cause any harm to the body also it can help maintain your weight. The best time to work out during fasting is before breaking the fast or exercising after the night’s Tarawih prayers. Try to avoid high-intensity exercise, doing slow exercises are advised such as brisk walk, slow jogging, and cycling.

After all, the spirit of Ramadan can boost your productivity and your Imaan at the same time. Do not let fasting reduce your performance at work. Those tips above are some ways to help you out. If it is done properly, not only you can maintain productivity but you can also increase it during Ramadan. I hope the few tips above can be beneficial to you and will help you to utilize your time in Ramadan to be more productive. Stay healthy and Ramadan Mubarak!
